SERVICES

DSI can provide organizations with training and technical assistance to increase their capacity to identify and address substance abuse issues in their communities using the Strategic Prevention Framework.

In the spirit of moving research to practice, DSI scientists and program staff also provide training, technical assistance, and evaluation services to national, state, and community provider agencies. We assist organizations with data collection, program planning and implementation, and evaluation. We also provide professional training and technical assistance on a variety of important public health issues.

DSI received a contract from the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services to provide training and technical assistance to sub-recipient communities receiving funding under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG). The goals of the SPF SIG are to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse and related problems, and build prevention capacity and infrastructure at the state and community levels. DSI services included the provision of training, group and individual technical assistance, and networking, across a variety of topics and modalities.

In addition to training and technical assistance, DSI has added evaluation to our list of services. We currently provide technical assistance and evaluation for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s (OJJDP’s) Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws initiative in Rhode Island. To this end, DSI works with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and a statewide advisory committee to develop and review resource materials and policies, and evaluate training events.

DSI, in collaboration with the University of Rhode, is conducting the evaluation of SAMHSA’s Jail Diversion and Trauma Recovery with a Priority to Veterans Grant in Rhode Island. Our responsibilities include designing and implementing the evaluation of this large federal initiative, collecting and analyzing client outcomes, assessing implementation fidelity, and measuring statewide infrastructure changes in policy and evaluating training.

We are also available to deliver direct services to organizations that require the actual human resources to perform a variety of tasks required of a prevention organization.

These direct services include but are not limited to:

Community Needs Assessment

Organization Capacity Building

Logic Model and Community Plan Development

Evaluation Design

Grant Writing and Editing
